POST-UFC FIGHT NIGHT 109: ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Stockholm, Sweden for the fifth time in promotional history Sunday (May 28, 2017) with UFC Fight Night 109: Gustafsson vs. Teixeira. It was a solid night of battles which saw half of 12 bouts end by finish, and with the scraps now in our rear view, let’s look at which of the evening’s competitors we might no longer see in activity inside the Octagon…
ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK
Alex Nicholson
Jack Hermansson was taken on by nicholson and dropped via TKO. He is currently on a two-fight deficit inside the Octagon and 1-3 at the UFC. Following the loss to Hermansson, I think there’s a fantastic opportunity that Nicholson will be getting his walking papers out of the advertising. Along with his recent slide, he is also known to produce headlines for reasons that were negative, and I feel the UFC is going to be pleased cutting off ties . I see him becoming released, and I don’t see him working his way back into the big show, despite being only 27 decades of age.
Chris Camozzi
Camozzi came up short in a unanimous-decision loss to Trevor Smith and is now riding a three-fight losing streak in what’s his third stint with the UFC. He was released after four successive losses last time, and it has dropped just three straight this time, but I believe that it’s probably he will be receiving a pink slip from the promotion. I personally would prefer to see him get a fourth shot for another time, but I’ve got my doubts about it. Should he get released, I believe this time he will head to Bellator rather than the regional circuit in Colorado in hopes of working his way into a fourth UFC stint.
Nico Musoke
Musoke returned to shoot on Bojan Velickovic in the front of his home crowd in Sweden. He had been up on the judges’ scorecards en route to some conclusion triumph using half a second left in the competition. That is when he was caught with a check right hook which staggered him, placing him on ice skates and allowing Velickovic to complete him. The reduction makes it two for the Swede, and he’s currently 1-3 in his last four years. I believe it is 60/40 he will be getting released from the UFC. I lean towards them giving him a third shot since he just returned from an extended layoff, was winning the struggle until getting caught and the advertising would use him for European cards.
